Cavalleria Rusticana is a one act verismo opera based in Sicily. It is a tale of a soldier who returns from war to find that he has lost his fiancée to another man. In his torment, he ruins the reputation of a young woman and then seduces his former fiancée, ultimately ending in a confrontation with the enraged husband.

Eugene Onegin is a lyric opera in three acts and seven scenes by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky with a libretto by Konstantin Shilovsky, the composer, and his brother Modest Tchaikovsky. Based on the novel in verse Eugene Onegin (1833) by Alexander Pushkin. The opera premiered on March 29, 1879 at the Maly Theatre, Moscow Conservatory. The production is sung in Russian with English translations.

Gounod’s version of the Goethe’s age-old battle between good and evil is a treasure chest of glorious arias, gorgeous duets, and stirring choruses and ensembles. This production will take place in contemporary times, giving the powerful story a new and vibrant immediacy. Faust, jaded and lonely, has sold his soul to the devil in exchange for eternal youth. The innocent Marguerite becomes the pawn in this satanic deal, and she loses everything, including her sanity, as the plot unfolds.
